Every year we are asked about ticks. Ed and Fred spent 6 hours in the classroom this past winter learning about ticks and mosquitoes. Did you know that one in every 5 deer ticks is infected with the Lyme Disease Bacteria?
Of course an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
When in outdoor wooded environments it’s best to wear
clothing that is light color so that ticks can be easily seen.
Wear long sleeves and long pants tucked in to your socks.
Wear a hat to protect your head.
Use a good insect repellant that contains DEET.
Do a self inspection often.
Remove a tick within 12-24 hours by grasping it as close to the skin as possible using a pair of fine point tweezers. Do not squeeze or twist but pull it straight out using steady pressure.
